During the pandemic, we performed an analysis of excess mortality, which is the difference between the deaths expected in a given period and those that actually occurred. From this research, we produced a study whose intent was to reveal the unequal impacts of COVID-19 on Brazil’s Black population, showing that Black and brown people died 57% more than white people. The content of this study was transformed into an interactive website, created to facilitate the understanding and reading of the data.

27
of Brazil’s Federative units had their data analyzed and integrated into the platform, allowing the comparative visualization of deaths by race/color.
50
epidemiological weeks were evaluated in the historical series presented in the platform’s interactive graph.
36,000
deaths was the number of excess deaths recorded among Black and brown people compared to white people highlighted in the study.
